"A journalist, a gentleman, a fierce proponent of democracy," the tribute starts, adding "Xolani Gwala has been a steadfast companion and champion for South Africa, on the air and off over his 24-year career. He was irrepressible, kind and always respectful."
The clip gives fans a look at Xolani's extensive career, which spanned over two decades and included jobs in both radio and television.
From interviewing the president to taking on devastating tragedies like the Marikana Massacre, Xolani Gwala never held back.
News of Xolani's death broke on Friday. The presenters family confirmed the news to 702.
