Johannesburg – Of all the hits he has helped produce, local muso Maphorisa has counted working on Particula with Major Lazer as one of his favourites.
Speaking to The Juice, the muso says getting the chance to work with the group was a big opportunity. “Major Lazer is one of the biggest groups in the world, and they’re really doing well. For me, and Nasty C actually, getting that opportunity was really dope for us. We're really representing South Africa, and South Africa is really proud of us.”
Maphorisa seems to be close to one particular member of Major Lazer – Diplo – and credits that friendship to his manager. “Shout-out to my manager, she’s the one who’s got a good relationship with Diplo. She said, ‘Diplo wants to hear your music’, so I sent a bunch of things. Luckily he liked Particula and said we need this in our EP and stuff. So I was like, ‘this is a great opportunity cause I’m a big fan of his music’.”
Asked which other mega star he would like to work with, the producer says he’d like to partner up with the likes of Rihanna, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Dre Dre and even Adele. “I want to try something different. Work with other cultures, different languages.”
