Cape Town - Meli Lounge has released a statement following the fatal shooting of former Generations actor Mandla Hlatshwayo.
Hlatshwayo and a friend were gunned down at the establishment in Pimville, Soweto during a robbery at the pub on Sunday night.
Police spokesperson Captain Hitler Mgwenya confirmed that two people were shot dead at a pub in Pimville at 23:00 on Sunday night. Mgwenya added that the victims tried to help other people in the pub who were being robbed.
A statement released by Shirley Pebble Nkotsi on behalf of the staff and owner of Meli Lounge, Meli Morewane, expressed condolences to the family and friends of Mandla and "Chom Chom."
"May the good Lord comfort you in this time of sorrow," the statement read.
They appealed to people to be careful when spreading "stories" or "hearsay" as they don't want to hurt the family with untrue stories.
The pub has been closed until further notice.
"Those who feel a need to comfort Meli at the shop, please kindly do so in a respectable manner since that area is a crime scene and the police still need further investigations. We trust that we will work together in this. May all who all are affected and hurt find strength in the Lord," the statement ended off.
