Mika Stefano mourns the death of his mom

Cape Town - Local fitness guru Mika Stefano had to cut his trip to Spain short following news of his mother’s death.

He announced the heart-wrenching news on his Instagram page where he shared a lengthy post dedicated to his late mother, Marlene Stefano. She died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, 9 August.

"Sadly my beautiful mother passed away on Friday evening in her sleep," Mika captioned his post.

"We last spoke on Friday evening and we spoke about Spain. She had always wished for me to visit Spain and was so excited about me being in Barcelona.

"She told me to enjoy my evening and be safe. She would always tell me to be safe . . ."

Mika, who’s now making his way back to SA from Barcelona, painstakingly revealed that the reality hasn’t sunk in yet.

He went on to reveal the close relationship he had with his mom.

"My biggest supporter, number one fan, part time photographer and best friend. She supported me and held my hand through many important moments. She loved unconditionally and always had my back, no questions asked," he wrote.

Many South African celebs commented on the post with their condolences

"My condolences to you and the family Mika," comedian Siv Ngesi wrote.

"My dear Mika . . . my sincerest condolences to you and your family," Metro FM presenter Relebogile Mabotja wrote. "May you be comforted during this difficult time. Sending so much love your way."
