Cape Town - Over the years, she’s wowed SA audiences on the airwaves and on-screen – and it seems there’s just no stopping Minnie Dlamini.

This time Minnie (28) has landed herself a gig as the executive producer of a new show that will soon premier on Mzansi Magic with comedian Mpho 'Popps' Modikoane (31) hosting the programme.

The Spirit of Mzansi is reality competition, similar to The Amazing Race, but with VW Amarok Extremes,” Minnie told YOU.

In the series, produced by Minnie’s Beautiful Day Productions, two teams of four will race from Johannesburg to Durban in the Volkswagen bakkies, for a grand prize of R250 000.

“On each of the five race days, they face a variety of physical and driving challenges which they use the Amaroks for,” Minnie says.

“One member of each team will also be eliminated at the end of each day leaving only two standing on the final race day. The race is riddled with twists that’ll keep both contestants and viewers on their toes,” she adds.

The show – set to hitting our screens on Wednesday, August 15 – will be made up of eight episodes and promises to be action-packed and full of laughs.

This is Minnie’s second producer role. Last year, she shot a three-part documentary series titled Becoming Mrs Jones which showcased the build-up of her July wedding to local producer Quinton Jones.

“I’ve always wanted to produce content,” Minnie explains. “The bug truly hit me when I landed my first presenting role in 2010.”

“I used to intern at the production house that produced the show called LIVE. That’s where I learnt what goes into TV production and I knew it was the perfect progression for me – to go from presenter to creator.”

It’s also not the first time she has worked with Mpho. The duo previously co-hosted a special edition of Headline on Mzansi Magic in 2013.

“I love his humility, humour and personality and I knew he’d make the perfect host for the Spirit of Mzansi,” Minnie says of her on-screen partner in crime. “Mpho is also a consummate professional on set – he kept the team in stitches on and off camera.”

The former Mzansi Insider presenter adds that while the project has been hard work, she’s also had a great time producing the show. “I work with the best team in the world, who all go over and beyond to create amazing content.”

So what’s next for SA’s "It Girl?"

Beautiful Day Productions has a few more projects in the pipeline and they’re currently in the throes of shooting a new commercial, Minnie says.

But at home, Minnie revealed her next big project will be a little more personal – starting a family. Now that’s one role we can’t wait to see her in!
