Cape Town - In less than three months’ time a local beauty will be crowned Miss South Africa and Huisgenoot, YOU, DRUM and MOVE! have jumped on board as this year’s official media partner.

The glittering pageant takes place on 9 August – fittingly, Women’s Day – at Sun International’s Sun Arena at Times Square, Pretoria. The show will be aired live on both M-Net and Mzansi Magic.

This year’s winner will receive money and prizes to the value of R3 million, which includes R1 million in cash and a car.

The runner-up takes home R250 000 in cash and each of the 16 finalists will walk away with R25 000. Not too shabby!

Five former Miss SA winners have joined the Miss South Africa Organisation to launch a fabulous new media campaign called "Miss South Africa Light Up Your Dreams."

The former winners – dubbed The Big Five – are Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala (Miss SA 2010), Rolene Strauss (Miss SA & Miss World 2014), Liesl Laurie (Miss SA 2015), Ntandoyenkosi Kunene-Mthethwa (Miss SA 2016) and reigning Miss SA, Tamaryn Green.

Each have their own slogan:

Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala: From Limpopo to leading South Africa.

Ntandoyenkosi Kunene-Mthethwa: From Mkhondo to mentor.

Liesl Laurie: From Eldos to an empire.

Rolene Strauss: From Volksrust to the world.

Tamaryn Green: From university to the universe.

The Big Five have shared their incredible journey to the Miss SA title and are excited to welcome another queen to the sisterhood.

Miss SA has had an impressive few years on the international stage. Tamaryn was runner-up at the Miss Universe pageant last year, while Rolene was crowned Miss World in 2014.

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters took the title of Miss Universe in 2017.

Entries for this year’s competition open on 13 May at 9:00 and close on 10 June. Go to www.misssa.co.za to enter.

The 16 finalists will be announced on 11 July.

Miss South Africa is presented by Weil Entertainment in association with Sun International.
