Cape Town - Most people have already started working on making their New Year's resolutions a reality.
Some have cut out meat, stopped drinking alcohol and are focusing on living a healthy life. One celebrity who has not strayed from his new year's resolution is DJ and producer Mobi Dixon.
The year 2019 was a hectic year for Mobi; he was hospitalised for depression after losing a close friend and co-worker Nichume Siwundla.
But this year, the Kobanini DJ is starting on a clean slate and working towards a brighter future and a healthier body.
What are your fitness goals for this year?
"I tend to go through people's pictures and look at random models who have a similar body structure to mine. I like Michael B Jordan's upper body. But The Rock has the body I am working towards. His structure is great, but I don't think I would want to be as big as him."
What is your workout routine?
"I go to the gym every day at 7AM. I usually start with a long warmup routine to avoid any injuries and to get the muscles warm. I work out for an hour and because I am trying to get lean, I do all the types of workouts - cardio, core, strength, and weight training. I recently got a personal trainer because I am looking for faster results. But before I had a trainer, I was also using the wheel. It was very effective, and I recommend it."
What does your diet entail and what have you cut out?
"Step one was I got a nutritionist to assist with what is good and bad for me. I have cut out starch and carbohydrates and increased protein. I don't eat pastries, rice, and pap completely. The best protein I eat for me is fish and eggs whites and I've reduced red meat intake. I eat more fruits and vegetables. A big one for me is alcohol, I stopped drinking for my liver to be fully functional."
What do you miss eating the most?
"I miss eating pizza. I like real wood-fired Italian pizza and the last time I had a pizza was in December."
