Cape Town - Well-known South African polygamist and reality TV star, Musa Mseleku’s exclusive candle light dinner event – which will aid in his pursuit of a fifth wife – sold out within hours.
According to Musa’s publicist and social media manager Sihle Seleke, the idea was sparked by the many private messages Mseleku receives from women on a daily basis.
“You’d be amazed if I were to show you the messages he gets from women on social media where they ask for favours and offer ‘services’ to him. So, I approached him and told him that women loved him and wanted to meet him. That’s when I offered to create the dinner to test out if those same women would be willing to participate in the event,” she told Drum.
Although Seleke says Mseleku wasn’t sure the event would be a success, he was keen on participating. The event, where each seat costs R5000 and was limited to only 10 seats, sold out within hours of being advertised.
“I put the invitation at 20:00 on Monday night and it was fully booked by 10:00 the next day. When I say fully booked, I mean 10 women had already paid full the amount,” she explained.
Seleke said the event will be held at an undisclosed location. The women who paid to be part of the event will be in the running to become Musa’s fifth wife.
She also broke down that the R5000 would not entirely go to the reality TV star but would be paying for the exclusive location, a range of activities for the women, shuttles and Mseleku’s appearance fee.
“Where we are taking these women is an exclusive venue of high class. So, the R5000 goes to the activities that will be taking place at the dinner. Since these women will be there for 8 hours, they have to enjoy it,” she said.
When asked how the other 4 wives of Mseleku felt about the event, Seleke said that they were fully in support of their husband’s pursuit as they went into the marriage knowing that he was polygamous and wanted a very big family.
Speaking to Sunday Tribune, Mseleku confirmed that he would be at the event.
“I never thought it would happen. I definitely will be there and we will have a beautiful night,” he said.
Although many have called the event a scam and exploitation of women on social media, Seleke has slammed the remarks by saying the event was a platform for women to meet Mseleku, who she refers to as South Africa’s Hugh Hefner.
“He’s our own Hugh Hefner, he’s a brand. Women are willing to pay R50000 for pastors to pray for their wedding fingers so they can get married, but when we celebrate our own, whose been living this life genuinely for the past 20 years it becomes a big deal.,”
“If you cannot pay the R5000 then sit down. This is not for you,” she snapped back at trolls.
Seleke also revealed how her company was also working alongside TV production companies to create another reality show which would be focusing on Mseleku’s pursuit for a 5th wife since a lot of women would be willing to be part of that show.
