Former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has shared a message of hope with South Africans following President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement of a 21-day nationwide lockdown.
The beauty queen, who lives in the USA with husband Tim Tebow, has also been self-isolating.
"My heart is with SA," she wrote on Tuesday.
"I know there's so much fear and anxiety for the nation wide lockdown that's been implemented. I'd really like to encourage all my fellow South Africans to support one another in these uncertain and unfamiliar times by keeping each other motivated, being kind and selfless [sic]," the message goes on to say.
Demi then encouraged South Africans to support small businesses by ordering online or placing orders at farmers markets instead of chain stores.
"We can't help everyone but we can help one another [sic]," she adds.
The post ends with Demi asking people to contribute toward a solidarity fund set up by the presidency to help those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.
