Cape Town - Veteran actress, Baby Cele has revealed how her “reckless expenditure” of money once resulted in the loss of her house and car.

According to Isolezwe, the Uzalo actress was speaking about some of the realities of being in the entertainment industry during an event hosted by Ukhozi FM’s Dudu Khoza in Durban on Saturday.

“People are not aware that my house and car were once repossessed because I did not have money,” the actress reportedly revealed before explaining how she became broke.

“Although we earned $500 (R7 210) each week for Sarafina in the 80s, we spent the money recklessly on expensive clothes as if those clothes would feed us,” she explained.

Luckily the 46-year-old was able to get back on her feet and even tied the knot for the third time in a private ceremony in September 2017.

Speaking to Sunday World about her marriage, Baby revealed that she had been in a relationship with her hubby for five years before they decided to get married and that the wait was worth it.

"We work very well as a team and I am glad that it has worked out like this. We waited a while but it was worth the wait."

Baby also told the publication that she had to move away from her husband just three months after they got married, so she could work on Uzalo which is shot in Durban.

“Unfortunately I had to leave three months after the wedding. I didn't know if I should tell him. I thought if I discuss it with him‚ chances are he will change my mind. So‚ I signed the contract and only told him three days later. I didn't have the guts.”
