Nathi Mthethwa: Thandi Klaasen will be laid to rest in a dignified way

Cape Town - Thandi Klaasen will be given a heroine's farewell. 

Legendary local Jazz icon, Thandi Klaasen, 86, died on Sunday. The singer battled with pancreatic cancer

Speaking to SABC News on Monday, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa said that government would step in to ensure that "the people's hero is laid to rest in a dignified way."

"At this point we are taking cue from the family with the preparations but as government we will working very closely with the family," he went on to say.

According to SABC News a funeral will take place on Friday. Details regarding the service are yet to be confirmed.
