New gig for Amanda du-Pont

Cape Town - Lady Luck has smiled on actress and TV presenter Amanda du-Pont, who grabbed the opportunity to be a co-presenter on BET’s A-List show while Nandi Mngoma is on maternity leave.

The heavily pregnant Mngoma tied the knot with musician and producer Zakhele “Zakes Bantwini” Madida three months ago.

Du-Pont is a former presenter of celebrity gossip and entertainment magazine show Real Goboza.

She will be co-hosting the weekly entertainment and lifestyle magazine show with Ayanda Thabethe, shooting segments with A-listers and celebrities from across the continent.

She experienced her first day shooting at Endemol Shine Studios in Randburg on Thursday and her first episode of BET A-List will premiere on BET this Thursday.

Speaking to City Press on Friday, Du-Pont said she enjoyed working with Thabethe and she was looking forward to an exciting collaboration in the future.

“I just get along with both Nandi and Ayanda. So, working with Ayanda is going to be fun and exciting.”

She said she was delighted to be part of BET A-List.

“This show is an African footprint and it has all international opportunities. It’s going to be an opportunity for me to grow as a TV presenter.”

She told City Press that when she received a call from the producer of the show a few weeks ago, she tried to be professional and to not lose her cool. She screamed with excitement after the phone call.

Thabethe and Du-Pont will have to keep audiences captivated with the latest trends from around the African continent and abroad.

They will be unpacking every trendy topic from fashion to music, movies and more. They will also cover the hottest red carpet events and interview A-listers from home and abroad.

Among the many stars and celebrities who have featured on the show are Cassper Nyovest, Bonang Matheba, DJ Sbu, Boity, Monique Bingham, Wizkid and many more.

Catch BET A-List (DStv channel 129) on Thursday at 6.35pm.
