Nonhle addresses THAT Twitter meltdown

Johannesburg – Speaking to Anele on her show, Real Talk, TV personality Nonhle Thema addressed THAT Twitter meltdown, why it happened, and how it has affected her life today.

Who could forget that moment in 2011 when Nonhle took Twitter by storm. In what seemed like a complete meltdown, the star addressed her haters assuring them that she was swimming in money.

Chatting to Anele, Nonhle addressed those tweets and what started it all.

“One or two people, when the show [Nonhle Goes to Hollywood] premiered and they did not kind of like it, I responded. That was my first mistake. I fed the fire. And then people were like, ‘yes, she’s not perfect she also gets hurt’.”

The star says she was caught in a moment of weakness. “I showed weakness and those people who were not my fans came and devoured me, and I allowed them,” she tells Anele.

At the time of her Twitter rant, many fans were convinced that it may have been someone else behind those tweets. Nonhle cleared the air, saying, “I was always the one tweeting from my account, and then there was a time I did get somebody that was assisting me to tweet for me. But that whole Twitter thing, I was really really just trying to find myself.”

Five years later, Nonhle says even though she lost a lot of money, she has no regrets about how it all went down.

“I don’t regret it. It happened for a reason. I lost a lot of money – it’s fine. I lost a lot of things – it’s fine. But you know what? I gained a lot of things because I gained who Nonhle really is, and I gained understanding of this world and this bubble I was living in.”
