BUSINESS woman and actress, Phindile Gwala, is saying her goodbyes to the popular SABC2 soapie, Muvhango, which made her a household name. She says it’s time to leave the soapie, which she has called home for the nearly five years. The actress plans to focus on her passion of becoming a preacher and other future endeavours.

THE REASON BEHIND HER DEPARTURE

Phindile became a household name after she came into the limelight as Nonny in 2013 after spending a few years in theatre. Playing the loud‚ likable character, Phindile quickly became a fan favourite on the soapie as her character’s storyline grew. But the bubbly actress feels that it’s time to grow her name outside of Muvhango. “I am leaving because it is the right time. It’s like moving out of home‚ you start from scratch and get a chance to be independent,” she says. She reveals that she started preaching in February last year and that she plans to do more of it. “I preach at Ecaleni‚ Tembisa, on certain Sundays. I am there every Sunday except when I am working out of town,” she says.

HER OTHER ENDEAVOURS

Not so long ago, Phindile announced the opening of her new business venture, a shisa nyama and car wash spot, which she partnered with her Congolese model boyfriend, Armando Ngandu. The new establishment, called Lotha’s Car Wash, is located in Wynberg, north of Johannesburg. While customers’ vehicles are being washed, they have an option of getting themselves a mouth-watering meal which has been prepared by the actress. “I have always wanted to have a business in the food and hospitality industry because I love cooking,” she says. The business woman also has other projects in store, but doesn’t want to share the details at the moment. “I am working on other plans, but I don’t want to go into detail about them right now. But Move! will be the first to know when the time is right.”

WHAT HER MAMA GAVE HER

Phindile is also well-known for turning heads with saucy pictures of her stunning body. Even the likes of international TV host and actor, Steve Harvey, has also been reported to have commented on the actress’s body. Phindile says she inherited her body from her mother. “I have a very good relationship with my body, I don’t like going on diets. I eat everything,” says the actress. “Growing up, I felt like having a thick body was a curse due to all the teasing. But I grew to love my body so much as I saw my mother’s pictures when she was young and she had the exact same body as me.”
