Cape Town - Clearly beauty can be inherited – as is obvious when looking at pictures of former Miss South Africa Suzette van der Merwe’s 17-year-old daughter, Skye.

Suzette, who recently celebrated her 50thbirthday in Mozambique, often shares pictures of Skye, her only daughter, on Instagram.

In a recent pic of Suzette at 17 juxtaposed with a picture of Skye there’s quite a resemblance.

“Throwback to my 17-year-old self and my breathtaking 17-year-old daughter,” Suzette captioned the pic.

“Beauty is definitely hereditary,” one of Suzette’s more than 7 000 followers commented.

“Wow, the same pattern! Look so alike. You’re both beautiful,” another one wrote.

“As Skye gets older she’s starting to look more like me – but there are also similarities to my mom,” Suzette, who was Miss SA in 1990, tells YOU.

Suzette also often shares pictures of her mother, Jeanne (75), who’s just as beautiful.

“Skye and I are close and share a special bond,” she says of her relationship with her daughter.

She describes Skye, a Grade 11 pupil at Dainfern College in Johannesburg, as a sunshine child with a special fire.

“She’s mature and passionate – and there’s no shortage of self-confidence. She knows herself, has high standards and is driven,” Suzette says.

“But she’s also still a child. She’s not bothered with her physical appearance or that of others. She sees your soul rather than what you look like,” she adds.

Suzette, who’s been engaged to businessman Mark Weston (54) for the past three years, also has a son, Graydon Goss (19).

Will Skye be following in her mom’s footsteps?

“Ever since she was a little girl of three years old Skye has only had one dream and that’s to do drama. She wants to be a stage actress, preferably on Broadway,” Suzette says proudly.
