PICS: Miss SA top 16 join the First Lady to give back on Mandela Day

Johannesburg – President Cyril Ramaphosa's Adopt-a-School Foundation brought together several individuals to volunteer at Olifantsvlei Primary School in Eikenhof on Thursday for Mandela Day.

Among those present were the Miss South Africa top 16 contestants, who spent time at the school, alongside First Lady, Dr Tshepo Motepe.

The day began with a formal ceremony hosted by the key stakeholders and a tour of the school. Volunteers then took part in activities which included painting classrooms, development of the school's vegetable garden, and revamping the sports combination court.

"This day will help improve the physical environments where children learn, grow and develop to reach their full potential. Whether it's painting the walls, planting food gardens or fixing broken furniture – this day is about rolling up our sleeves and lending a hand to make a difference," Steve Lebere, Adopt-a-School Foundation's executive director said in a press statement.

Other celebrities present on the day included Maps Maponyane, Ntokozo TK Dlamini and Blue Mbombo.
