PICS: Nandi Madida makes history at Afropunk in New York

Cape Town - Local TV personality Nandi Madida made history as the first African to host the main stage at Afropunk in New York on Saturday.

"Man what a time to be alive," she captioned an Instagram photo, showing off her look from the first day.

The Made in Africa host captioned a second photo: "As a proud African I am honored to have been given the opportunity."

Festival headliners included Erykah Badu, Tyler The Creator, Miguel, and Janelle Monae.

In a previous tweet the BET A-lister called the opportunity a "dream come true."

We're so proud!
