Johannesburg - South African radio presenter Romy Titus has given birth to a baby girl.
The baby arrived over a week early, on Saturday, 25 March 2017.
Wanting a strong name for her first child, Romy decided on Hera which means ‘warrior’ or ‘to be chosen’ while her second name being, Sarai – means Princess. Born in a time like this in South Africa, Romy thinks the country could do with a Warrior Princess.
Weighing in at 3.89kg’s the Radio 2000 presenter opted for a water birth at Genesis Clinic, in Saxonwold Johannesburg, under the watchful care of her midwife.
Here’s what Romy had to say about the birthing experience, "I’ve always believed that my body was designed to firstly produce and house a baby. I practiced homeopathy throughout my pregnancy, went to gym and Pilates and kept healthy. Ticking all those boxes meant that if I kept it all up and the doctor gave me the thumbs up – I would be good for normal delivery. I wasn’t worried about the pain – I thought of it as my GPS – my guide through the delivery. I wanted to feel every ache and pain and go with the flow, and my experience of bringing life into this world was a beautiful one."
When asked about her reaction when she saw her beautiful daughter for the first time, Romy says that she has her reaction recorded on video and has watched it multiple times and each time it has brought tears to her eyes. She describes it as an “outer body experience where you know this person is yours and you’ve just birthed her but the head and heart are in disbelief that this miracle is now here.”

Romy went on added, "If it’s one thing I’ll teach my daughter from very early on is that life comes at a price. We need to survive and in order for that to happen – I have to work. I would’ve loved to spend more time on maternity leave, but work calls… There is going to be fine balance from here on forth, before I could work all hours of the day, take calls at crazy hours in the morning and accept work of all nature. From now on, the day will start at a certain time and end at a certain time, as someone else now has the priority of my hours. Time is precious and while I need to make a living, teach her about having independence and strength as a woman – I cannot miss out on the little things that matter the most, and that now, is my daughter!”
