Rapper Rouge signs deal with Sony after being independent 'for the longest time'

Johannesburg – Rouge is the latest local artist to sign a record deal with Sony Music Africa.

The rapper, who was an independent artist before, made the announcement via social media on Thursday, adding pictures of herself signing the contract.

"I've been independent for the longest time and now officially with a major! Can't wait to see where this journey takes me with my new family," Rouge wrote.

Later on in another post the star addressed some concerns her fans may have with her choosing to sign to a label.

"Some of my supporters are low key worried about me signing. Promise I got the best lawyer in the game and I signed under my terms," she said, adding she went back and forth for months to ensure that she was happy before taking the deal.

In recent year Sony also signed deals with Shekhinah as well as DJ Maphorisa
