Record number of over 900 entries received for Miss South Africa - so far!

Johannesburg – Entries for the 2019 Miss South Africa pageant are streaming in quickly, with hundreds of hopefuls trying their luck at winning that coveted title. 

After announcing in May that they are expecting a record number of entries this year, the Miss South Africa organization revealed on Tuesday that more than 900 young women have applied to take part in the beauty pageant thus far.

"This is not a drill! We have officially hit over 900 entrants for #MissSA2019!" a post on Instagram reads. 

With just days left before the pageant closes, the organisation has urged anyone interested to apply before the deadline on 10 June. 

A previous statement revealed that in 2018 "just short of 500 young women entered the pageant despite entry process being opened for a much longer period."

This year the organisation has switched up the entry process. Hopefuls no longer have to download a form but can quickly fill one in online and submit images after that. Also, unlike in previous years, candidates do not have to travel to regional auditions. 

Miss South Africa 2019 will take place on 9 August at the Sun Arena, Time Square in Pretoria.
