Cape Town - South African model and surfer Roxy Louw (31) reveals more about her fiancé, Sam Barton (31), from New Zealand.
The couple has been together for two years.
They’re planning to get married in early February, around the time of the Cape Town 10’s rugby tournament – which is where they met two years ago.
Sam, a rugby player, had been playing in the tournament. Roxy, the daughter of former Springbok Rob Louw, met Sam and says they had a “profound conversation”.
They’re planning on a three-day wedding in Cape Town and surrounds.
“We’re still looking for the perfect spot,” Roxy says.
“We want to incorporate games like rugby and cricket in the wedding – the bridesmaids competing against the groomsmen,” she says.
Roxy describes their relationship as full of “fun and adventures”.
“We like to challenge ourselves and get out of our comfort zone and grow together. We do everything together – surf, yoga, fitness and work.”
She adds that she just knew Sam was “Mr Right”. “Our connection was instant – physically, emotionally and mentally.”
Apart from a shared love of sports and fitness, Sam and Roxy are also passionate about raising awareness for the therapeutic benefits of marijuana. They’re even planning a yoga and dagga workshop.
As Sam wrote on Instagram next to a picture of a poster advertising the event, “Roxy and I are excited to host a weekend retreat dedicated to our two favourite ancient medicines, cannabis and yoga. Join us for South Africa’s first cannabis yoga retreat.
