SA artist Lungelo Gumede creates Winnie and Nelson Mandela wax figures!

Johannesburg – Durban artist Lungelo Gumede has shared his latest wax sculptures with fans on Twitter and it seems to be a hit.

The sculptor, who dreams of opening SA's first wax museum, created life-size figures of both Nelson Mandela and Winnie Mandela. Lungelo has previously created sculptures of both of these iconic political activists.

His other works includes wax figures of Michael Jackson, Hugh Masekela and current SA President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Posting a video of his brand-new art pieces, Lungelo wrote: "Here is my latest edition of Mama Winnie and Tata Nelson Mandela life size figures. I hope @ZindziMandela approves and we can make a bronze for the Winnie Mandela Airport in Cape Town."

Twitter users were blown away by the accuracy and detail of the figures – from the clothing, right down props like Winnie's glasses and jewellery.
