SABC confirms Phat Joe 'unscheduled until further notice'

Cape Town - Phat Joe has been suspended from Radio 2000 after allegedlymaking a homophonic remark on-air, during a broadcast on Wednesday.

Speaking to The Juice, SABC spokesperson, Vuyo Mthembu on Thursday said: "The SABC can confirm that Phat Joe has been unscheduled until further notice."

She declined to comment further on the matter saying: "This is a matter between the employer and employee, and we cannot comment further at this stage."

During the broadcast of Phat Joe and the Family, the radio host allegedly made several vile homophobic remarks.

No stranger to controversy, Phat Joe left East Coast Radio in 2017, following remarks he made about Down syndrome, although the station insists it was not because of the incident.
