Cape Town - Radio and TV personality Phat Joe was not on his Radio 2000 Breakfast Show Phat Joe and the Family on Thursday following what most deemed to be homophobic comments he made during the show on Wednesday.
The radio host allegedly said that he "doesn’t understand why gays can’t accept that it's difficult for most people to accept their lifestyle."
According to listeners, he added that he was "disgusted" by them when they hit on him and when “ gays are flamboyant like women they are disgusting” .
This didn’t sit well with the gay community and they expressed themselves on social media.

Following this, Phat Joe was not present on his show on Thursdayand had David Mashabela stand in for him without any explanation about happened to Joe.
When Move! contacted the SABC, SABC spokesperson Vuyo Mthembu didn’t confirm that Joe was suspended or answer any of the questions about whether Phat Joe will be held accountable.
Vuyo, however, did confirmed that: "The SABC is aware [of Joe’s comments/the outcry] and are currently investigating the matter."
Phat Joe is no stranger to controversy or being fired from radio stations for his comments.
He left East Coast Radio two years ago after complaints about his comments about Down syndrome, despite the station denying it was due to the public complaints.
When he was at Heart 104.9 FM had to apologise to a Cape Times reporter for allegedly calling her a cockroach.
