Veteran actress Connie Chiume who is best known for her role as Mamokete on Rhythm City is set on changing the world of acting by giving back to the industry as well as to her fans.

The award-winning actress has taken it upon herself to inspire upcoming actors and actresses through a series of workshops that she plans to conduct across six provinces.

The main focus of the workshops will be youth based and seek to assist young artists by equipping them with as much skills and information as possible. The workshops will touch on items such as acting skills, business management, brand management and social media management, amongst many other various topics.

Limpopo, Eastern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga, Free State and Northern Cape are where the workshops will be conducted. Chiume said that she chose these specific provinces because she feels as though they are neglected by the mainstream media as far as arts development is concerned.

Joining her in her venture will be Skeem Saam actor, Buhle Maseko (Nimza) as well as other theatre and film practitioners who are part of the younger generation of actors in the industry.

An excited Chiume is grateful to the National Department of Arts and Culture for the support she has received from them through the M.G.E.

“Thank you to the Department of Arts and Culture for giving this idea the wings it so deserves. I just can’t wait to get out there and offer myself, my journey and my experiences to the most neglected section of the country’s youth who aspire to be in the entertainment industry but do not see themselves achieving their dreams primarily because the industry is very far from their own reality” the veteran actress said.
