Singer Tresor hijacked and 'held for hours' in boot of car

Johannesburg – According to a statement released on his social media pages, Tresor says that he was the victim of a hijacking on Thursday evening.

The singer posted the information to his social media accounts on Friday afternoon, detailing the horrific events.

"Last Night, whilst dropping off fellow artist Batundi from my label Jacquel Music Group, in Linden – I was involved in a car hijacking and we were both kidnapped and robbed in Linden."

According to the star, the incident took place at 20:30. "We only got released at approximately 4am in a hostel area in Soweto."

The statement reveals that Tresor and Batundi were held at gunpoint, handcuffed, and kept in the boot of the car "for hours on end as they cleaned out our bank accounts."

While the pair survived the ordeal, the vehicle was taken along with other belongings.

Anyone with information was urged to come forward.

Speaking to Channel24, spokesperson for the Linden Police Station, Constable Takalani Matumba, confirmed that a case of hijacking had been opened on Friday morning.

Attempts to reach Tresor's management team were unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
