Sjava receives long-awaited BET award and plans to share it with fans

Speaking to DRUM, the singer who attended the handover ceremony of the award in Hyde Park revealed why he wanted to share the trophy with his fans. 

"I feel proud to wave the South African flag high because without the recognition of the many South Africans that support me I would not be here" he said. 

"The handover ceremony today made me remember how far I have come because the love has a new level ever since I received the award." 

He also attributed his success to being humble and staying true to himself and his roots, saying: "One thing I learnt is that fame comes and goes so I do not worry about it and that is why people find me more relatable and that is probably why I hold this award.” 

"I never want to lose a part of myself because for fame it is not about being famous it is about doing what I love and that is making music."
