Skwatta Kamp on losing Flabba: It took us a while to admit he is gone

Johannesburg – Speaking to DJ Fresh on the Fresh Breakfast, Skwatta Kamp opened up about what it was like working on their new EP without former member Flabba who passed away in 2015.

Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi was stabbed to death by his girlfriend in March 2015 at his home in Alexandra.

“I think for us even the news of him passing was a hard pill to swallow and it took us a while to actually admit he is gone. That’s why the guys say to have these six songs put down as solid as they are, it took us a while to actually even get in sync with each other because now you have to consider the fact that we used to have a certain structure in songs,” one of the members told Fresh when asked about what it was like getting back into studio together.

“It took us a while until we figured, you know what, let’s do things the way we used to do them, but also be honest with the fact that he’s not there. And not try to cover it up in any way,” they went on to say.
