Tshepo and Salamina Mosese say their love for each other goes far deeper.

CELEBRITY couple – actor Tshepo “Howza” Mosese and his actress wife, Salamina Mosese – are testament to the fact that true love still exists, especially in celebville. The lovebirds met years ago on the set of local soapie, Backstage. They reveal to Move! that from the word go, they wanted to commit to each other and make their relationship work. Salamina admits that she was smitten by the sexy, talented young man, while Tshepo couldn’t believe his luck when Salamina befriended him and decided to take things to the next level. They have been married for eight years.

THEIR MARRIAGE HONOURED

The couple won the Inspirational Couple of The Year Award at the I Do Awards last year. These awards are meant to celebrate the sacredness of marriage and encourage married couples to open up about the struggles and joys they experience in their marriages. Salamina and Tshepo say they were honoured and surprised by the support and love they received from the public. “It was an honour to receive this award. We did not realise how much people look up to us and that they are wishing us well. It’s humbling and it helped us renew our commitment. We are just enjoying the ride. We have grown as individuals and with each passing year, we get better at loving each other and understanding one another. It’s a work in progress because no relationship is easy, and it's the same with our marriage,” she says.

THE MEANING OF LOVE

Many people believe that true love is hard to find, but Tshepo and Salamina say their love for each other goes far deeper. “We believe real love encompasses being patient, loving and loyal. Being friends first also plays a major role in our relationship. Giving up on each other is not an option. Giving each other space is also showing love. We made a choice to commit to one another, so we have to make it work," she says. “Tshepo makes loving him easy because he is kind, easy-going and dependable. I’ve grown to respect his quiet confidence and I love the way he looks at me. I feel safe whenever he’s near,” gushes Salamina, who is also a model. “Sali is the love of my life. I knew from the first time I saw her on Backstage that I wanted to be hers. She has a heart for people and it’s her strength and humility I love the most ... oh yes, I like her legs too,” giggles the Scandal actor. They are not shy to admit that they attend marriage counselling to help sustain their commitment.

KEEPING IT PRIVATE

They also say they want to expand their family, and talk lovingly about their four-year-old daughter, Tumelo. “It’s important to remember that a relationship is between two people and only those two people can make or break it. We are private people, but we don’t go out of our way to prove that we are private. Things just work themselves out. Sometimes it’s just easier to make your mistakes and grow from them in your own space. The glare of the public just adds another dimension to our lives that makes it difficult,” Salamina concludes.
