UPDATE - 9 August, 10:06: 21st Media Group have released a statement after consulting with their legal team. According to the statement the management company are in possession of three contracts, proof of payment and direct emails between 21st Media Group, Superstar Agency and 42 West PR. Evidence will be disclosed to the media at a press briefing on Thursday. (The tweet has since been removed) 42 West is yet to comment on allegations.


UPDATE - 9 August, 05:32: Organisers of the International Women in Media conference late on Wednesday night released a second statement in which they claim that they indeed booked and paid a deposit for Hollywood star Taraji P Henson to attend the conference. They added further that they are handing the issue over to their legal team. Taraji denies she has anything to do with the event.

UPDATE  - 20:17: After being confirmed as MC of the event and recording a video in support of it, local celebrity Bonang Matheba has now withdrawn from the International Women in Media conference.

Matheba announced the news via a statement on Twitter on Wednesday night.

UPDATE - 16:45: Actress Halle Berry's name has also been removed from the official line-up on the International Women in Media website. All previous social media mention of the actress' involvement has also been deleted from 21st Century Group official Twitter account. The organisers of the event declined comment several times.    


Johannesburg - Taraji P Henson has denied that she is headed to South Africa for the Women in Media conference taking place in Johannesburg in September.

It was announced on Tuesday that the Empire actress will be attending the event, alongside local TV personality Bonang Matheba. 

The social media posts has since been deleted. 

Organisers of the event, 21st Century Group, claimed that Henson, along with international stars Halle Berry and Ashanti, would be attending the conference which will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on 5 September.

In a series of tweets, Heson denied that she would be on the panel, adding that she had never heard of it.
