Cape Town - Media personality Thando Thabethe was criticized by a Twitter user for wearing make up to her present her radio show but she did not take it lying down.

The 29-year-old currently presents The Thabooty Show on the 5FM afternoon drive in addition to other acting and presenting gigs.

Twitter user and Youtuber Michael Cost judged Thando for wearing a full-face makeup just to present a show and Thando swiftly responded:

"I have other jobs before radio :) and even if i didnt ungenaphi????", she wrote.

Thando’s fans also rallied behind her.

However, Michael further explained why he made the comment and said that he wasn’t judging Thando for wearing makeup.

The point he wanted to make was the fact that radio stations, especially the SABC are now marketing their presenters by their appearance.

"I’ve noticed how radio stations, especially SABC, have started marketing what their presenters are wearing, what they look like, and market more around how the presenters look instead of the content. It’s a marketing shift that has happened in the past 2 yrs," he wrote.

The YouTuber also had people who understood what he was saying and backed him.

Michael then assured Thando that his tweet was not an attack and he felt that it was blown out of proportion.

Ya I think my point was blown out of proportion. And thando saw it as a attack on her which it wasn't.

Looking good while being on radio is no longer a personal choice. Radio stations are putting pressure on the way their presenters look, their ootd and who are they with.
