Cape Town - Losing a parent is traumatic for everyone, regardless of your age or how long it’s been since their passing.
For Thando Thabethe the heartache of losing her dad is still fresh, the TV host’s letter to her late father is one of the sweetest things you’ll read today.
The 28-year-old actress, radio DJ and television host took to Instagram on 27 June to say her father would have turned 56, and how much she still missed the small things, like how they would drink milk together before bedtime.
“Daddy would have been 56 today . . . I wish you were here to see the woman I have grown into. I have no doubt that you look over and have been very instrumental in my life here on earth. I miss your voice, your laughter, your love, drinking milk together before we went to bed, eating raw liver . . . and no doubt my love for music is as a result of your influence . . . don’t worry about your girls. I’m doing my damn best!!! Happy birthday Daddy.”
Thando concluded the letter by saying her dad shouldn’t worry because she’s doing her best – and we couldn’t agree more.
Four years ago she was named Africa’s first brand ambassador for Nivea and she has appeared in popular shows and movies such as Generations: The Legacy, Mrs Right Guy and Intersexions – to name but a few. Thando even has her own underwear line, Thabooty’s Underwear & Shapewear.
