Cape Town - Season 2 of The Bachelor SA is on its way and we can’t wait to see which hunk is going to drive the single ladies to tears and tantrums this time.
The first season of M-Net’s reality show had its fair share of drama. Eventually Lee Thompson (30) handed the last rose to makeup artist Gina Myers (31) but as soon as the cameras were switched off, so was their romance.
M-Net recently announced a second season of the series with actor and presenter Jason Greer once more hosting the show.
Online applications for single women in search of their Prince Charming have already opened and will close on 20 August. And if you think you’ve got what it takes to be SA’s latest bachelor, you can enter online here. But no chancers, M-Net warns.
"Though the first season didn’t end in a 'happily-ever-after' fairytale as we’d all hoped, we still believe in the power of love," says Lani Lombard, M-Net’s head of publicity.
While we wait to see who the new fella is, YOU put together a wish list of 10 local celebs we think would be worth the drama.
1. Siv Ngesi
He’s funny, handsome and has a heart of gold – what’s not to like? The 33-year-old comedian and presenter is quite the catch.
2. Dean Smith
If you haven’t watched kykNET soapie Suidooster, here’s your reason to start. We’re not sure if the actor is single, but if his Instagram feed is anything to go by, Dean (25) would be well worth finding out.
3. Damian de Allende
Two words: sizzling hot. And if you’re into a neat beard, the 27-year-old Springbok centre might just be the one for you.
4. Aphiwe Dyantyi
The 24-year-old Springbok wing – who was named the world rugby breakthrough player of the year in Monaco at the World Rugby Awards last year – has a smile to die for and is certainly one to watch.
5. Maurice Paige
Still not watched Suidooster? Here’s reason No 2. Just look at that buff bod! You might also remember the 36-year-old from SABC3 soap Isidingo.
6. Francois Hougaard
Be still our beating hearts! There’s not much more you can say about the 31-year-old former Springbok, except he’s certainly kept himself in top form.
7. Jacques Bessenger
It’s all about those soulful eyes . . . You’ve probably spotted the 39-year-old actor on the small screen in Erfsondes and Fynskrif or on the big screen in Ballade vir ’n Enkeling (2015) and Sink (2015). As the bachelor we’d get to see a whole lot more of him. Mmmm.
8. Maps Maponyane
In 2013 this charming presenter and actor was Cosmopolitan South Africa’s sexiest man – and not much has changed in the past six years. The 29-year-old is stylish, handsome – and definitely one of SA’s most popular singletons.
9. Christopher Jaftha
The 35-year-old first caught our eye when he reached the top five in SABC3’s presenter search. These days the model is a Top Billing presenter. And my goodness does he know how to rock a suit!
10. Nicholas Nkuna
You might know him as Fikani in SABC2 soap 7de Laan. But you might not know he has a velvety singing voice. If this 29-year-old were to be the next bachelor, we’ve no doubt M-Net will be inundated with applications from single women.
