“The music we produce is an extension of who were are”- TnS Records founders
did you decide to start the record label?
Three things push culture forward: namely
language, music and fashion. We’ve always seen ourselves as more than just fashion
entrepreneurs. We believe that we are storytellers, culture authorities and
pioneers so it made sense for us to venture into music. The type of music we
produce and promote is an extension of who we are – it speaks of where we come
from, and what we do.
did your partnership come about?
We’ve been friends for more than 10 years; we’ve
done a lot of work together before the establishment of Tshepo Jeans and Skinny
Socks. In June, we were having a chat and discussing how great it would be to
do something outside our comfort zone. That’s
when we decided to share our love for music with our followers and it made
sense for us to start a record label.
are you hoping to achieve with TnS Records?
Simply TnS Records is a platform for us to
launch new and exciting artists into the market and also to promote our brands
through music and artists.
have been the challenges of starting the label?
We have to make sure that our artists have good
accommodation, food, clothes and quality beats for them to record more great
music, and also getting genuine platforms for them to perform. The business is self-funded,
which has caused a financial strain on us, but it's an investment rick we're
willing to make.
sets you apart from the rest?
We're are proud of where we come from, and
most importantly, for the first time is African history, two great fashion
brands collaborate on something out of their comfort zone.
How do you manage to run your fashion
businesses with the record label?
We make time for the music business on a
daily basis. Since this is a new baby, it requires a lot of time, patience and
care. We've managed to partner with other people to help us grow this beast,
just like how we have teams to run our other businesses.
can hopeful musicians get hold of you?
They can find us on our personal pages
