Many South Africans are heeding the call from President Ramaposa to practice social distancing, including actor, producer and Volvo brand ambassador, Thapelo Mokoena who has ditched the gym in favour of trail running.

Thapelo joins other celebrities all over the world, who are using their platforms to share the importance of self-isolation as the coronavirus continues to spread.

"We have everything we need in ourselves to keep fit. I do my trail runs stopping for sit-ups every two to three kilometres. If I see a tree with a good branch, I'll use it to do pull-ups," he comments.

The Trackers star first tried trail running in 2015 following an accident whilst road running. "That incident had me reassess my life and my approach to this running thing," he comments. "I really enjoy that I can still do my training and not put my kids at risk" he comments. "I had a great 12km run this morning. It felt good. I'm listening to my body. I'm listening to everything I feel. I'm really in contact with my wellness."

Thapelo echoes Volvo Car South Africa's head of marketing and communications, Charmagne Mavudzi's sentiments, who recently said "Even during times of isolation we can still take care of our health and fitness. Finding novel ways to train helps us not only consider others but also helps us to care for ourselves."
