Trevor Noah receives Zora Neale Hurston Award for 2017

Johannesburg – Congratulations are in order, once again, for The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah!

The comedian was announced as the 2017 recipient of the Zora Neale Hurston Award. 

According to the American Library Association, “The Zora Neale Hurston Award honors an individual who has demonstrated leadership in promoting African-American literature (sic).” 

The site further explains, “Mr Noah has consistently featured notable African American figures on his Emmy and Peabody Award-winning show. Mr Noah will receive an honorary ALA membership for his immeasurable efforts of showcasing and promoting African American writers, artists and cultural contributors and the works they’ve created (sic).” 

Sharing the news on Instagram, Trevor wrote, “What a huge honor! Many thanks to the #ALA – my english teacher would be so proud! (sic)” 

This news comes just days after the comedian announced the upcoming premiere of his Netflix special, Afraid of the Dark
