Vodacom: Bonang requested we transfer her number to prepaid

Cape Town -  Vodacom on Monday confirmed to The Juice that they did not elect to change Bonang Matheba's account.

This comes after several online reports claimed that the service provider downgraded her from VIP to prepaid status after she threw a tantrum on Twitter.

According to the Vodacom website the VIP contract holders receive limitless minutes, SMSs and 5GB Data for R1999 pm over 24 months.

Earlier this month Bonang expressed her frustration with the network calling their service, "horrid."

Vodacom spokesperson Byron Kennedy commented: "It is not true to say that it was Vodacom that elected to change Bonang's account. In fact it was at Bonang's request that we transferred her number to prepaid and cancelled her Red VIP contract."

Kennedy declined to comment on the amount of Matheba's monthly bill.

Bonang Matheba has been unavailable for comment. We will update the story should an official comment become available.
