Planning a perfect proposal takes a lot of thought and preparation, and requires some luck to be on your side.
Scandal! actor Hungani Ndlovu knows all about this as he went through the process when he got down on one knee to propose to his sweetheart, Stephanie.

In a 15-minute-long video, which they posted to their YouTube channel recently, newlyweds Stephanie and Hungani detailed the day of their proposal, which happened on Stephanie's birthday.
And although everything on the day went perfectly, the proposal was almost ruined by bad weather, stolen video footage and Stephanie's runny tummy. But luckily for the couple, Stephanie could endure the romantic plane ride Hungani had planned for them and the weather cleared up just in time, making the plane ride a possibility.
"So I made plans and the plans were to do something in the sky. And on her birthday, every year, there's just always something about the weather that it must rain," Hungani began explaining.
"So I went to her apartment complex to pick her up in the morning and when I got there it was very cloudy. On the way to the airport in Midrand I was just praying that it doesn't rain because I had paid for things," he says before Stephanie interrupts him to remind him to narrate how she had a tummy bug and wasn’t in the mood to celebrate her birthday.
The couple then continue to explain that when they got to the airport, they were told it wasn't legal for them to fly in such bad weather conditions. Luckily for them, the clouds lifted 40 minutes later and they were allowed to fly. They took off and when they landed, Hungani popped the question.
"And then we got off the flight and I had prepared this whole speech. I wrote it down, I knew when I was getting down on the knee, everything was literally to the tee," Hungani says as Stephanie explains that she hadn’t expected the proposal because they had planned to get married the following year.
"And then I turn around and he's on one knee and I’m thinking what on Earth is going on. And I left him there on his knee with no answer. I just walked away. I could not believe this because it was so unexpected in terms of what we had planned because we’re both pretty big planners. And so, in terms of what we had planned, there was still another year to go so he fast-tracked this whole thing by a year. So, I was completely thrown off," she said.
Hungani had even organised videographers to capture the moment, but unfortunately their camera and other equipment, together with their video, got stolen at church.
But the day ended off with a braai at Hungani’s place where both Stephanie and Hungani’s close friends and family were in attendance.
