WATCH: If Lira could create her own Disney Princess this is what her name would be

Johannesburg – It was all smiles for South African singer Lira when she got the great news that her voice would be featured in the end-credits of a Disney movie.

ICYMI the singer/songwriter recorded her own version of How Far I’ll Go from Disney’s upcoming animation, Moana

Speaking to The Juice about the major opportunity, Lira says she was called into the office when she got the good news. “I was honoured that my name came up” the star says, adding how proud she was of the achievement.

The track will feature on the end-credits of the South African version of the film when it hits cinemas nationwide from 2 December. Lira says her biggest take away from the song is the message “not to conform.”

In a behind-the-scene clip posted by Disney Africa, the singer also spoke about her excitement saying, “I think what’s exciting is Disney comes to Africa, and it’s wonderful for African voices to feature on such epic films,” adding that what she loves about Moana is that “she has so much courage to go out there and discover who she is.”

Being a big fan of Disney movies herself, Lira admitted to us, after much deliberation, that one of her favourite Disney princesses has to be Ariel – a tough decision since there are so many to choose from.

So to make things a little more interesting, we asked the star to create her own princess. Her Answer? An African princess named Lerato. We love it!

If @miss_lira could create her own #DisneyPrincess, this is what her name would be.
