Cape Town - Local Afrikaans dance-pop singer Kurt Darren made a young fan's birthday wish come true, with a sweet video message all the way from Zanzibar!
The singer and his family are currently on vacay in the tropical beach paradise celebrating his birthday.
Superfan Jay Dee had one wish for his big day - a call from his idol Kurt Darren. Unfortunately Kurt was out of the country but the singer did him one better by sending the birthday boy a video message he could keep forever.

Speaking to The Juice, Kurt said: "I was inundated with messages from friends, fellow artists and complete strangers, all of them coming together to alert me to Jay Dee's birthday request."
He added: "I was truly humbled that I could play a small part in making his big day special, and it's times like this that make all the sacrifices and being away from home and family truly worth it."
Sharing the video on Kurt's Facebook, his team wrote: "Jay Dee's mother recorded his reaction and sent it to Kurt. It was such a special moment."
In the video, Jay Dee is visibly excited as his mother hands him the phone, and while watching the message he clutches his chest. Afterwards he exclaims: "I can't believe it!" and watches the video for a second time.
The camera person then moves the focus to Jay Dee's walls, which are covered in Kurt Darren's posters.
