The cast of the highly anticipated South African series Queen Sono walked the red carpet in Johannesburg on Thursday evening as they geared themselves up for the show's premiere.
Dressed to the nines and welcomed by screaming fans were the likes of Pearl Thusi, who plays the lead role of Queen, as well as Kate Liquorish, Kagiso Lediga, Rob van Vuuren, and Enhle Mbali.
Speaking to Channel24, Pearl said the show would be an inspiration for young women. She also believes it will have a positive impact on the film and TV industry.
"The thing I'm really excited about is how this is going to move the industry forward, and where it's going to take us."
For Kagiso Lediga, who produced and directed a few episodes, it's all about bringing the continent of Africa together. "I'd just like to see them represented as part of a bigger African continent. We're always insular; we're such an insular nation," he tells us, adding that he just wanted to "make South Africa part of Africa" with this show.
