Cape Town - Minnie Dlamini chatted to DRUM at the Absa Premiership’s Soweto derby cocktail function on Thursday evening. South Africa’s soccer darling, Minnie is extremely excited about the game.
The showdown, which features long-time rivals Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday, will play a vital role in either team challenging for the Premiership title.
“I remember growing up how important the derby was. I come from a very big soccer family,” she told us.
Her dad, Jabulani Dlamini, is a soccer coach.
But her fave soccer player doesn’t feature in either of the derby teams, and he’s not an attacker. The 27-year-old’s favourite player leads from the back.
“One of my favourite players is Hlompho Kekana from [Mamelodi] Sundowns,” she said. “He's a captain, he's a solid leader, but also just a solid player. One of my favourites, definitely, in the last couple of seasons.”
