We attended a polo match with Volvo brand ambassadors Jessica Nkosi and Thapelo Mokoena at Val de Vie and this is how it went down

It’s not every Sunday afternoon you get to sit next to the polo field at Val de Vie alongside some of South Africa’s most famous faces whilst sipping on champagne.

But, on 1 March Channel24 got to do just that when we joined Volvo brand ambassadors Jessica Nkosi and Thapelo Mokoena at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Series Invitational held at Val de Vie Estate in Paarl.

Chauffeured to the event in a Volvo XC90 T6 we arrived on a picture-perfect day to watch team Hisense take on team Veuve Clicquot in fast-paced high adrenaline match that ultimately ended with team Hisense holding up the winner’s trophy.

Thapelo, fresh from the set of an international TV show he was filming in the Mother City, looked dapper in his summer suit as he enthusiastically shared stories about his passion for his career, set life, and travelling. It was a treat to get up close and personal with the down-to-earth local star.

The chic polo event, hosted by Nomzamo Mbatha, also served as the perfect party to celebrate the fourth birthday of the arrival of the Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in South Africa.

Guests got treated to spekboom-infused cinnamon buns created by SA’s own celebrity chef Rueben Riffel whilst South African singer-songwriter Shekhina had the elite crowd on their feet.

Channel24 was invited to Veuve Clicquot Polo Series Invitational by Volvo.
