Cape Town - Last year the third season of Diski Divas trended on social media almost every evening. If the ladies weren’t involved in drunken spats over cheating allegations, there was baby-daddy drama and confrontations. Hoping to clean up and change the “side-chick” image is Thato Makgaka (24) and best friend Chabi Motaung (22).

Speaking to DRUM the women opened up about how they want to bring change to Diski Divas.

“During the shoot for Diski Divas and after Thato and I realised we need to always improve ourselves, we sat down and thought of ways to try to inspire other women who have been judged for making mistakes,” Chabi says.

The two say they want to inspire women who watch the show.

“We want to be good examples and inspire young girls and women to know their worth,” she said.

“We are still young and we wish to tell our stories and be open and learn from our mistakes.”

Following their revelations, the two will be hosting what they call an “exclusive all-white intimate picnic” for only 50 ladies at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Roodepoort on 31 March.

“This event will be very intimate – we will discuss women-related issues and laugh over drinks and good food. Women often bring one another down and this event is to help one another heal,” Thato says.
