A year has passed since Lee Thompson appeared on The Bachelor SA. Unfortunately, the hunky model wasn’t able to find love – but he says life couldn’t be better!

The 31-year-old set tongues wagging on social media when he appeared in the first season of the reality series last year.

Speaking to YOU, Thompson says that when M-Net asked him to be the Bachelor, he truly believed the show would help him find the one, so he went all out.

In the last episode of the season, celebrity makeup artist Gina Myers emerged as the woman who won Lee’s heart. However, that didn't last long and it was revealed during the reunion show that the couple split after the show ended.

Lee tells us he and Gina haven’t been in contact since.

Although he went into the show with an open mind, recalling his experience Lee says, emotionally, it took a lot from him.

“I was extremely optimistic about the situation,” he tells us. “My experience on the show was emotionally challenging and also came with a lot of good times and first-time experiences which I’ll never forget!”

The fitness enthusiast says the show has changed his life a fair bit as he is often recognised in public by fans of The Bachelor.

As for his love-life? Lee is still searching for his soulmate.

“I haven’t dated anyone since the show. My love-life has been a bit slow after the show.

“I just haven’t found the one yet. It’s not that I’m closed off to finding someone, it’s just that it hasn’t happened yet. I really do want to settle down with the right person,” he revealed.

But Lee might find love sooner than he thinks. The Cape Town hunk flew to Los Angeles earlier this year to meet up with producers about a spin-off show, The Bachelor: Summer Games.

“The Bachelor franchise flew me to Los Angeles to meet with the producers about an upcoming Bachelor spin, which will run alongside the Summer Olympics in 2021. Basically, the summer version of The Bachelor Winter Games,” he said.

While his dating life is in a hiatus and he awaits exploring the love game again when they start shooting next year, Lee is focused on growing his cleaning company and his online health and fitness brand.
