Winston Ntshona to receive state funeral

Johannesburg – President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral Category 2 for late actor Winston Ntshona.  

Ntshona died on 2 August at the age of 77.

The star was celebrated and remembered by fans on social media as well as close industry friends John Kani, and Athol Fugard

According to a statement issued to the press on behalf of the president, the funeral is “designated by the President of the Republic of South Africa for distinguished persons.” 

It goes on to say: “The President has instructed that the National Flag be flown at half-mast in the Eastern Cape Province on the day of Mr. Winston Ntshona’s funeral, which will take place in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality on Friday, 10 August 2018.” 

Further details of the funeral will be communicated by the Eastern Cape Provincial Government.
