Johannesburg – The amazing work of local star Yvonne Chaka Chaka will be recognised at this years BET Awards where the singer will be honoured with an International Global Good Star and Power Award.
Known as the “Princess of Africa”, Yvonne will be recognised alongside Somali-Canadian social activist Ilwad Elman.
“I am overwhelmed, humbled and overjoyed with this honour. I have received many awards and have performed on many stages in the world and getting this recognition just puts the pieces of the puzzle together,” Yvonne said in a press statement.
Yvonne will join past Global Good winners Akon and Tanzanian supermodel Millen Magese.
Another South African star who joins the long list of BET nominees is Amanda Black. The Amazulu singer has been nominated in the Viewer’s Choice Award "Best International Act" category in conjuction with performers from the UK, South Korea, Canada, Australia and Jamaica.
