The National Prosecuting Authority announced yesterday that it will appeal Oscar Pistorius' verdict and sentence.
Following the announcement, Oscar's uncle, Arnold Pistorius, issued a media statement but did not have much to say about the NPA's decision to appeal the case.
"We take note of the State’s announcement. The law must take its course," Arnold Pistorius said in his brief statement.
The NPA's decision to appeal was taken on Monday and, if granted, will see the State motivate for a conviction on a charge of Murder rather that Culpable Homicide and for a heftier sentence.
Oscar's defence team is expected to oppose the appeal.
This comes just one week after Oscar was detained in prison to serve out his five year sentence on the conviction of Culpable Homicide.
