It's been a long and daunting day in court as Judge Masipa hands down her verdict to murder accused Oscar Pistorius.

The court was filled to capacity with not an empty bench inside. Day one has ended with mixed emotions as Judge Masipa ruled out pre-meditated murder and murder.

She found that the state failed to prove direct intention, let alone pre-meditation. " The accused cannot be found guilty of murder dolus eventualis - but there is still culpable homicide," she explained. 

Obviously incredibly relieved with the judge's findings, Oscar broke down into tears and court had to be adjourned for lunch. After lunch Judge Masipa tacked the issue of negligence.

It's believed that she will tackle culpable homicide tomorrow when court resumes.
