Johannesburg - Pearl Thusi is in a lot of people's bad books after making a comment about Trevor Noah as he took the helm as the host of The Daily Show.
The radio presenter posted a publicity picture of Trevor on her Instagram page with the caption: "Ladies and gents... a guy I don't really like but am unbelievably proud of. Thank you for showing us all the limitless possibilities that we all have if we apply ourselves. I wish you all the strength, blessings and success. Go Trevor go (sic)."
The post was flooded with negative reactions as fans wrote their disappointment in Pearl. One fan said: "There she goes again, shine on other people's shine," while another commented:"That was unnecessary Pearl. That was out of order."
The general sentiment is that at a time when there is so much upheaval in South Africa, Trevor Noah has brought back a bit of the magic. And just like so many times in the past, we've all joined together to watch our guy make history.
Early on Thursday morning Redi Tlhabi's show on Talk Radio 702, callers phoned in to talk about the issue, saying that Pearl's comments border on hate speech.
Redi made an excellent point (obvs) saying that while she thinks people are being too sensitive, she does agree that it is not relevant that Pearl had to point out that she doesn't like Trevor.
